It is with great enthusiasm that I serve the community of St. Paul Elementary School located in Mid City Los Angeles. St. Paul is a Catholic School with a distinct mission to offer students the opportunity to embrace their interdependence, develop their individual passions, and grow in their relationship to God. We celebrate the uniqueness of every child and their journey in this beautifully diverse and multicultural society. Our students and their families are the heart of St. Paul School. We are also blessed to have a team of very dedicated, passionate, and highly-skilled teachers who provide a spiritually rich environment where children experience the living God in all things-through prayer and sacraments, academics, activities, and friendships.
Among the many changes that have taken place at St. Paul School since I arrived in 2015, we are extremely pleased to have been chosen to be one of five archdiocesan schools that will convert to a Dual Language Immersion model school beginning in the 2017-2018 academic year. This means that our transitional kindergarten and kindergarten teachers will undergo rigorous training in order to deliver standards-based instruction in both Spanish and English with excellence. Our goal is to educate, and ultimately graduate, a cohort of students who will be biliterate-have the ability to read, write, and think in two languages, and thus, become most successful in our diverse society. We will embrace multiculturalism and celebrate diversity, and we will afford our students an opportunity to experience their faith in both languages.
I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with each student’s family, St. Paul Parish, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, and the wider community as partners in this educational endeavor.
